As we prepared for family game night,
Teams set into two: son and I; hubby and daughter
We strategized on how to win the game of the week
My son (5 going on 25!) was full of joy and excitement
I wondered what had got him so excited
He had a grand idea that will make us snag the game
‘It’s a secret.'
'A secret?' I asked
'And it will make us sure to win!' he declared happily
'Come on, tell me' I said
He came close and whispered in my ear, ‘We pray to win’
Smiling broadly like one who had just divulged a top-secret
Oh ok, we pray
He clasps his little hands together
I follow suit, clasping my hands and closing my eyes
He says a very short prayer
Not ‘pastor’ kind of short but short as in 10 seconds short
Immediately we pronounce ‘Amen’, he jumps up in jubilation
Hands thrust in the air shouting ‘We’ve won! We’ve won!’
What? Did I miss something?
‘But we’ve won mummy, we’ve won’ he continued screaming in excitement
My daughter looked bewildered thinking ‘what’s this secret?’
I feigned a little excitement while I muttered another prayer under my breath
‘Dear Lord please don’t let us lose after this prayer. Your Name is on the line here.’
And then it hit me
When the Lord says anyone who comes to Him must come like a little child, this is what He means.
A heart fully trusting in Him, irrespective of the circumstances
Knowing without doubt, that when we seek, we will find Him
An assured faith, the firm conviction that He has got us in His hands
Marching forward in confident victory
For where there is faith, fear cannot exist.
Go forth into the week knowing that He’s got you.
