Raining Excuses!

At exactly 3.33am this morning, it started raining; the type of heavy downpour that made umbrellas kind of pointless.

I heard the pitter patter of raindrops on the roof and wondered to myself.. I have a little over an hour left to snooze before my alarm goes off, I've got to get up and hit the gym.

And a simultaneous thought.. this is the exact kind of Monday morning to snuggle up under the duvet - after all, I am on a break from work and it's midterm so no school runs..

I had no reason to get up... BUT the gym. If you know me well, you'll know I love to workout; working out is my 'morning coffee'. Yet sometimes I lack the motivation to work out.

Well, not long after; I jumped up, put on my gym outfit and made my way to the door.

The rain was even heavier and unrelenting, it sounded like it was saying to me.. you don't really need to go, take a rest today.

But I persisted; perhaps habit, discipline or just pure doggedness. I arrived the gym drenched and happy to have made it.

There will always be reasons to give up, a myriad of excuses why we can't do what we planned to do. These excuses begin to kick in once motivation and excitement start dwindling.

This is the exact point when discipline must take over.

We may be motivated for a short while but it's discipline that will keep us going for the long haul. It's discipline that will take us to success.

Signing out with my sore limbs...
